All officers and employees of
recruitment and placement
agencies should ensure that
their hired workers are given
the opportunity to read,
understand and sign their
respective employment contracts.
They shouild also give the
workers their travel and
employment papers one week
before their deployment to give
them ample time to rectify,
amend, or adjust any
discrepancies in their
documents.
Authentication of documents of
OFWs bound for Palau,
Micronesia, and Marshall islands
With the closure of the
Philippine Embassy in Koror,
Palau on 31 July 2012, the
jurisdiction over the Republic
of Palau, the Federated States
of Micronesia, and the Republic
of Marshall Islands has been
transferred to DFA's
Office of Asian and Pacific
Affairs (OAPA). OAPA will
authenticate documents issued
in/originating from Palau and
Micronesia. The Philippine
Honorary Consul based in Majuro
will still authenticate
documents issued/originating
from the Marshall Islands. OFWs
bound for Palau and Micronesia
shall submit documents for
authentication to the
Authentication Division of the
Office of Consular Affairs of
the DFA.

actively hiring Filipino nurses
as it warned jobseekers to be
wary of supposed vacancies
advertised through social media
channels.

The DFA Passport Extension
Office at POEA building
is
moving
to
its new location at the Kabayan
Lingkod Center, Level 1, West
Lane, Robinsons Galleria, Edsa
corner Ortigas Avenues, Quezon
City, and will be
formally opened to the public on
September 24, 2012.
The last day of its
operation at POEA will be on
Friday, September 14, 2012.

Israel Ministry of
Foreign Affairs now requires a
minimum of three years passport
validity for Filipino nationals
applying as caregivers in the
said country. Applicants for
work visa whose passports are

period are advised to renew

Ban on deployment to three
countries lifted
The POEA Governing Board has
issued three resolutions lifting
the ban on deployment to
Nigeria,
Libya and
South Sudan and instructed
the
POEA to resume processing of
documents of OFWs bound to the
said countries.

POEA bans deployment to Iraq, allows return of OFWs to Yemen
The POEA Governing Board re-imposes total ban on
deployment of OFWs to Iraq, except in the Kurdistan
Region, in view of the expected surge of terrorism
and violence following the withdrawal of U.S.
military forces last December 2011.

The Governing Board also
issued a resolution allowing the redeployment of
returning workers to Yemen, subject to proof of
existing employment as determined by POEA.
